Estate Planning

Estate Planning

Estate planning is essential in order to avoid having the state determine who shall inherit your assets. It is imperative if you wish to avoid the delays and expense of probate or certain taxes. Many people may think that their estate is not large enough or extensive enough to warrant formal estate planning. Many people may believe by putting their house in joint tenancy or having a joint checking account may suffice. While these actions may be sufficient in many cases they are insufficient and may have unintended consequences such as making assets available to outside creditors. Mr. Hasier has provided estate guidance to clients for over 25 years. He provides legal services in accordance with the needs and goals of the clients keeping in mind the size of the estate. Typically, an estate Plan can be implemented to achieve the client's goals.

Do all decedent's estates require Probate?  What if the only asset left  is the homestead given to the heirs in the Will? What if there is no Will? For some estates where the only asset is the Homestead and where there are no outstanding creditors  it may be possible to sell the real estate without going through probate. All circumstances are different and avoiding probate may not be available or desirable in your case. However, if probate is required, our Office can help guide you through the process of opening up, administering and ultimately closing the estate of your loved one.

Please feel free to contact our Office if you are in need of probating an estate or to see if there may be alternatives to probating your decedents estate or to discuss estate planning alternatives that may be available to you to avoid probate all together.
