JAMES A. HASIER

James Hasier has been aggressively and zealously protecting and enforcing the rights of his clients for over 25 years. His areas of practice include Banking Law, Business Law, Real Estate Law, Estate Planning and Commercial Litigation.

Mr. Hasier is a lifelong resident of the Chicago area. He was raised on the South Side of Chicago and attended local parochial schools. After graduating from the University of Illinois at Chicago, he worked as a paralegal specialist at the United States Attorneys Office while attending law school at  John Marshall Law School where he graduated Cum Laude. After graduation, he accepted a position at Kreisman & Rakich, a boutique law firm in the South Suburbs of Chicago where he practiced in the areas of banking law, real estate law, commercial litigation and estate planning law. While at that firm, Mr. Hasier gained considerable experience in representing individuals, banks, developers and small business owners as well as single family home buyers and sellers. In 1997 Mr. Hasier joined  the Chicago firm of Martin & Karcazes, Ltd.  whre he continued his practice in the areas of banking law, business law, real estate law and estate planning law In 2007Mr. Hasier became a partner Martin & Karcazes, Ltd. In 2014 Mr. Hasier left Martin & Karcazes, Ltd. to established  the Law Office of James A. Hasier.

Mr. Hasier has considerable experience in representing clients in all aspects of commercial and residential real estate transactions and has been involved in closing hundreds of such transactions. Mr. Hasier is also experienced in providing guidance to clients in the area of estate planning including drafting Trusts, Wills and Powers of Attorney to meet their individual estate planning needs.

Mr. Hasier has extensive litigation experience ranging from representing clients in straightforward breach of contract matters to prosecuting as well as defending clients in complex multi-party actions. He has represented clients in foreclosure actions, bankruptcy proceedings, evictions, lender liability cases, UCC actions, mechanic lien foreclosure actions and various other business related actions. As a result of his extensive experience, he has also been engaged as expert counsel in actions involving bankruptcy fraud claims.

In addition to his litigation work, Mr. Hasier has counseled and represented businesses clients in all aspects of their businesses including; business formation, contract negotiation, workouts, lease negotiations, purchase and sale of businesses, employee non-competes, employee discrimination and wrongful termination claims.

Mr. Hasier also has significant transactional experience in drafting and documenting commercial loans. Over the course of his career Mr. Hasier has documented hundreds of commercial loan transactions. This has included drafting, negotiating and reviewing loan documentation from basic secured single asset transactions to complex multi-million dollar loan transactions.
